Our round bowl sinks are available in sizes from 22cm to 36cm and can be fitted in three ways:
Surface mounted
Semi-recessed
Undermounted
Please read these instructions fully before starting installation.
Before You Begin
Take your time and measure carefully before cutting your worktop. Always dry-fit the sink before final fixing.
Each sink is supplied with a 90 degree waste already fitted, so you will need enough room beneath the worktop for the waste and outlet pipework.
For surface-mounted installation, a 110mm hole is usually required to clear the fitted waste.
For semi-recessed and undermount installation, the cut-out depends on the sink size and the final look required, so we recommend using the actual sink to mark the opening before cutting.
If you are new to DIY fitting, do a practice run on thick card or scrap material first. This is a simple way to check your measurements and cutting method before working on your finished surface.
Tools and Materials
You will need:
Tape measure
Pencil or marker
Masking tape
Drill
110mm hole saw or suitable cutting tool
Jigsaw, router, or suitable cutter for larger openings
Fine file or sandpaper
Clean cloth
Suitable edge sealer for the worktop material
Silicone sealant / silicone adhesive caulk for sealing and bedding the sink
Jubilee clip, if using one of our flexible outlet pipes
Thick card or scrap material for a practice cut
Safety glasses
Gloves
Important Installation Notes
Please make sure that:
all measurements are checked carefully before cutting
the space below the worktop allows room for the fitted waste and any pipework
any raw cut edge is sealed before the sink is fitted
the sink is fixed and sealed using the recommended method for the sink and worktop type
If you have ordered one of our flexible outlet pipes, plan for it from the start. The pipe should be secured with a jubilee clip and fitted with a smooth downward run for good drainage. Do not pull the pipe tight, twist it, kink it, or leave low spots where water can collect.
Marking the Centre Point for Surface Mounting
If you are fitting the sink as a surface mount, you will need to mark the centre point for the waste hole.
Place the sink in the position you would like it to sit on the worktop. Check that it looks balanced and leaves enough room around it for taps, walls, splashbacks and the front edge of the worktop.
Before marking anything, check underneath the worktop to make sure there is enough room for the 90 degree waste and any outlet pipework. If you are using one of our flexible outlet pipes, allow enough room for the pipe to run in a gentle curve and downward fall rather than a tight bend.
Place the sink upside down on the worktop to judge the final position. Measure across the widest part of the sink to find the halfway point, then measure front to back to find the middle in the other direction. Mark where these two points meet. This is the centre point.
If your worktop surface is dark, glossy or delicate, a small piece of masking tape can make the mark easier to see and help protect the surface.
Once marked, check the position again carefully before drilling.
Surface-Mounted Installation
This is usually the simplest fitting method.
With a surface-mounted installation, the sink sits on top of the worktop and only the waste passes through the hole below.
Mark the centre point as described above, then drill a 110mm hole through the worktop to clear the fitted 90 degree waste.
If your worktop is very thick, you may need to make the hole slightly larger to allow the waste and outlet pipe to pass through comfortably without strain. Take care not to make the hole larger than the base of the sink, so the hole remains hidden once fitted and the sink still has enough support on the worktop surface.
If extra clearance is needed, notching out from below is also an option, as this can create more room without enlarging the visible top hole.
Once cut, remove dust and smooth the edge with a file or sandpaper. Seal all raw cut edges before fitting the sink.
Place the sink over the hole and check that it sits flat and that the waste clears correctly.
Apply a bead of silicone sealant / silicone adhesive caulk at the sink rim or contact area, then set the sink into place.
If you are using one of our flexible outlet pipes, check the pipe run first, then remove the outlet pipe during final fitting for easier access and to avoid friction while curing. Reattach once fully dry. Secure it with a jubilee clip, making sure it is not twisted, kinked or pulled tight and that it has a smooth downward run for good drainage.
Semi-Recessed Installation
Because of the camber of the sink, these bowls can also be fitted semi-recessed.
This means that part of the bowl sits down into the worktop, while the upper section remains above the surface.
Position the sink where you would like it to sit, then use the actual sink to mark the opening. Check the position carefully before cutting.
Cut the opening slowly and carefully. Where possible, cut slightly smaller first and trim gradually for a better fit.
Once cut, check that there is enough room underneath for the fitted 90 degree waste and any connected pipework. If using one of our flexible outlet pipes, make sure there is enough space for the pipe to sit naturally with a smooth fall and no strain.
Smooth the cut edge and seal any raw edge before fitting the sink.
Test fit the sink and make any adjustments as needed. Then bed and seal it using silicone sealant / silicone adhesive caulk.
If you are fitting one of our flexible outlet pipes, check that the pipe run is smooth and free from strain, then remove the outlet pipe during final fitting for easier access and to avoid friction while curing. Reattach once fully dry. Secure it with a jubilee clip and make sure it has a smooth run for good drainage.
Undermount Installation
These sinks can also be fitted as an undermount beneath the worktop for a cleaner finish.
As the cut edge will be visible from above, this method requires extra care and accuracy.
Turn the sink upside down and use it to mark the opening in the correct position. Cut the opening carefully, then smooth the edge so that it is neat and tidy.
Any raw cut edge must be sealed before the sink is fitted.
Hold the sink in place beneath the opening and check the alignment. Also check that the fitted 90 degree waste and any outlet pipework can be connected without strain.
Apply silicone adhesive sealant to the sink flange or contact area, then position the sink carefully and hold it in place while the adhesive cures in line with the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
If you have ordered one of our flexible outlet pipes, check the fit first, then remove the outlet pipe during final fitting for easier access and to avoid friction while curing. Reattach once fully dry. Once refitted, secure it with a jubilee clip and make sure the pipe has a smooth, constant fall without tension or sagging.
Final Checks
Before completing the installation, please check that:
the sink is sitting securely
the waste clears the worktop correctly
there is enough space underneath for the pipework
all raw cut edges have been sealed
any excess sealant has been cleaned away
any flexible outlet pipe has been reattached after curing and secured with a jubilee clip
the outlet pipe has a smooth run and fall for good drainage
Helpful Tip
For semi-recessed and undermount fitting, always mark from the actual sink rather than relying on guessed measurements.
It is also a good idea to practise on thick card or scrap material first, especially if you are unsure about the cut-out size or position.
It is much easier to enlarge a hole slightly than it is to correct one that has been cut too large.
