How to install a no plumb tap kit (5 gallon water dispenser tap kit)

A battery powered tap kit is one of the easiest ways to add running water to a campervan. There’s no hardwiring, no separate 12V pump setup, and no complicated plumbing. The tap simply draws water up from your fresh water container and delivers it into the sink, while the waste water drains into a second container below.

This type of setup is ideal for simple van conversions because it is compact, neat and easy to install. In this case, all you need to do is drill a 10mm hole through the worktop for the 8mm water pipe to pass through, then secure the worktop mounting bracket with 2 screws. The main thing to watch is leaving enough space between the bracket and the rim of the sink.
What’s included in the kit
This kit includes:
2 x 10L water containers Size: 28cm x 34cm x 14cm
1 x rechargeable tap
1 x 1.2m food grade water pipe
1 x 1.5m waste pipe
1 x USB charger
1 x worktop mounting bracket
What else you’ll need
To fit the kit, you’ll also need:
drill
10mm drill bit
screwdriver
pencil or marker
2 screws for the mounting bracket
sink with waste outlet
How the system works
This setup is very simple.
One 10L water containers holds your fresh water
The food grade water pipe runs from the tap down into the fresh water container
The rechargeable tap pumps water up to the sink
The second 10L jerry can is used for waste water below the sink
The 2m waste pipe carries used water from the sink into the waste container
Step 1: Check your space under the sink
Before fitting anything, make sure the two water containers will fit comfortably inside your unit.
Each jerry can measures 28cm x 34cm x 14cm, so check that you have room for both the fresh and waste container, and that they can still be removed easily for filling and emptying.
It’s best if both can slide out without having to disconnect everything each time.
Step 2: Choose the tap position
Decide where the tap will sit on the worktop next to the sink.
This is the most important part of the install, because you need to leave enough space between the worktop mounting bracket and the rim of the sink. If the bracket is too close to the sink edge, it may not sit flat, the screws may be awkward to fit, or the tap may not line up properly over the bowl.
A good position will allow:
the tap to sit neatly over the sink
the bracket to lie flat on the worktop
room for the 2 fixing screws
the water pipe to drop straight down into the fresh water container below
Take your time here, because once the hole is drilled, the position is fixed.

Step 3: Mark and drill the hole
Once you’re happy with the position, mark the hole for the water pipe.
You only need a 10mm hole through the worktop for the 8mm food grade water pipe to pass through into the fresh water jerry can below.
Before drilling, check underneath to make sure there is a clear route down into the cupboard and nothing is in the way.
Then drill the 10mm hole cleanly through the worktop
.
Step 4: Fix the worktop mounting bracket
Place the worktop mounting bracket over the hole and check that:
it sits flat
the hole lines up correctly underneath it
there is still enough gap between the bracket and the sink rim
the tap will face into the sink properly
When you’re happy, secure the bracket using 2 screws.
Tighten it until it feels firm and secure, but avoid overtightening if your worktop is lightweight.
Step 5: Feed the water pipe through the worktop
Take the 1.2m food grade water pipe and feed it down through the 10mm hole.
This pipe needs to run from the tap position on the worktop down into the fresh water container below. Make sure it reaches low enough into the container to draw water properly.
Keep the pipe as straight as possible and avoid any tight bends or kinks.
Step 6: Position the fresh and waste water container
Place the two 10L water containers in the cupboard under the sink.
One water container is for fresh water
One water container is for waste water
Put the food grade pipe into the fresh water container. Then route your sink waste into the waste container using the supplied 2m waste pipe.
Because the waste pipe is longer, you have some flexibility in how you route it, but try to keep it running downhill into the waste container so water drains freely.
Step 7: Fit the rechargeable tap
Once the disc is secured and the water pipe is in place, fit the rechargeable tap onto the mounting bracket.
Check that:
the tap sits securely
it is positioned over the sink bowl
it has enough clearance from the sink rim
the spout lines up nicely so water falls into the middle of the sink
This is also a good point to make sure the pipe underneath is not trapped or bent sharply.
Step 8: Charge the tap
Before first use, charge the tap using the supplied USB charger.
Make sure it has enough power before testing the system.
Step 9: Fill and test
Fill the fresh water container with clean water and make sure the food grade pipe is sitting correctly inside it.
Check that the waste pipe is positioned into the waste container.
Then switch on or operate the rechargeable tap and test the flow into the sink.
You should get water drawn up from the fresh water container below and delivered through the tap into the sink, with the waste water draining into the second jerry can.
Things to double-check
Before calling the job finished, check that:
the 10mm hole is neat and in the right position
the 1.2m food grade water pipe passes through cleanly
the worktop mounting bracket is fixed securely with 2 screws
there is enough space between the bracket and the rim of the sink
the tap is centred properly over the sink
the fresh and waste containers fit comfortably below
the 1.5m waste pipe drains neatly into the waste container
the rechargeable tap is fully charged with the USB charger
Why this setup works well in a campervan
This kind of kit is popular because it keeps everything simple. There’s no need for a separate 12V water pump system, no complicated wiring, and very little installation work.
It’s a great option for smaller campervans, day vans and simple self-build layouts where you want running water without a more permanent plumbing system or complex set up.
Final thoughts
Installing a battery powered tap kit is a simple way to create a practical sink setup in a campervan. With 2 x 10L water containers, a rechargeable tap, 1.2m food grade water pipe, 2m waste pipe, USB charger and worktop mounting bracket, the job is mostly about getting the position right and making sure everything sits neatly.
